This page is a weblog of newspaper quotes illustrating the truth of the following Bible verses:
Deut. 28:58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; 59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. 60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. 61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.Sexually transmitted diseases are caused by sin. In some cases an innocent wife or husband is given the disease by an unfaithful spouse. In such a case the innocent party has not sinned, but the unfaithful spouse did sin. Also, in some cases an innocent person in infected by a blood transfusion. Still someone sinned to contaminate the blood in the first place. AIDS and other STD's are sin caused diseases.
NYC Health Officials Find New, Virulent HIV Strain (Update7)
Feb. 11 (Bloomberg) -- New York City doctors have discovered a man with a previously unseen strain of HIV that is resistant to three of the four types of anti-viral drugs that combat the disease, and progresses from infection to full-blown AIDS in two or three months, the health department said.
``We've identified this strain of HIV that is difficult or impossible to treat and which appears to progress rapidly to AIDS,'' said New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden. ``We have not seen a case like this before. It holds the potential for a very serious public health problem.''
The case was diagnosed in a New Yorker in his mid-40s who reported multiple male sex partners and unprotected anal sex -- often while using the drug crystal methamphetamine.
``It is likely there are others infected with this strain and this individual has infected others,'' Frieden said. The case is ``extremely concerning and a wake-up call,'' he said. (source...)

Aids reduces African life expectancy to 33; By Elizabeth Davies; 16 July 2004
The Aids pandemic is ravaging countries in sub-Saharan Africa, drastically reducing life expectancy in some parts to less than 33 years, a new UN report said yesterday.
The devastating impact of the crisis can be seen most clearly in seven African countries, including Malawi and Mozambique, where babies born in 2002 are not expected to live past 40 years because of the prevalence of HIV. Children in Zambia, where 17 per cent of the population are infected with the virus, are predicted to live just 32 years. The seven countries have, between them, seen an average drop in life expectancy of 13.5 years since 1990, the UN human development report said.
"In all these countries, Aids is reversing the hard-won development gains of recent decades," said Elizabeth Lwanga, the deputy director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Africa. "We need an unprecedented response to this crisis, which is taking a devastating toll on our communities."
With almost a quarter of its population infected with the virus, Zimbabwe has been the country most dramatically affected. Life expectancy there has plummeted from 57 years in 1990 to 34 in 2002.
In Swaziland, where one in three people between the ages of 15 and 49 are Aids sufferers, life expectancy has dropped by almost 20 years, and in Botswana, where the disease affects 37 per cent of the population, people can expect to live 16 years less now than in 1970.
The UNDP administrator, Mark Malloch Brown, said that the virus caused such destruction because it affected all aspects of life. Those who fell victim to the disease left behind them countries struggling to cope with the loss of such a large proportion of the workforce.
"The Aids crisis cripples states at all levels, because the disease attacks people in their most productive years," said Mr Malloch Brown. "It tears apart the foundation of everything, from public administration and health care to family structures."
Mohga Kamal-Smith, a health policy adviser for Oxfam, pointed to the failure of the international community as one of the main reasons for the devastation. "As the epidemic spread, the donor contributions from richer countries went down," she said. "Hardly any of the governments have achieved the 0.7 per cent GDP contribution that they committed to." [Governments don't want to contribute money to fight AIDS because they know it is money wasted. AIDS is spread by people who refuse to obey God's laws concerning morality. Money has no power to help such people. It doesn't take money to stop the AIDS epidemic. All it takes is a willingness to obey God.]
Abstinence, Condom Controversy Erupts at AIDS Meet; Jul 12, 8:55 AM (ET); By Darren Schuettler
BANGKOK (Reuters) - A controversy erupted at a global AIDS conference on Monday over whether abstaining from sex or using condoms was more effective to prevent the disease.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni brought the issue, which has set many AIDS activists at odds with Washington, into the open at the first full day of the AIDS conference by saying abstinence was the best way to stem the spread of the killer virus.
The remarks by Museveni, whose country is a rare success story in Africa's war on AIDS, were at odds with health experts who back condoms as a frontline defense against the incurable disease.
"I look at condoms as an improvisation, not a solution," Museveni told delegates on the second day of the 15th International AIDS Conference in Bangkok.
Instead, he called for "optimal relationships based on love and trust instead of institutionalized mistrust which is what the condom is all about."
Museveni added fuel to a debate within the AIDS community over the best way to halt the spread of a disease that has killed 20 million people and infected 38 million. Uganda's "ABC" method (Abstinence, Being faithful and Condoms) is a model for the AIDS policies of the administration of President Bush and which are under fire at the conference for advocating sexual abstinence to stem infection.
Official figures suggest six percent of Uganda's 26.5 million people are now infected, down from 30 percent in the 1980s. (source...)
[Condoms are "institutionalized mistrust." Very well put, President Museveni! And note that President Museveni's abstinence plan works, of course, because abstaining from sex outside of marriage is God's plan.]
Oklahoman May Have Infected Nearly 170 Women With HIV; Washington Health Officials Say Number Of Potential Victims Has Increased; POSTED: 11:13 pm CDT May 4, 2004; UPDATED: 4:09 pm CDT May 5, 2004
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Authorities in the state of Washington say an Oklahoma man may have infected up to 170 people with HIV.
Four Washington women who had sex with Whitfield have tested positive for HIV. However, the number of potential victims has risen from 12 to 170 within the last month. Forty-five women either refused to be tested or have not been located, health officials said.
The Washington total accounts for women who had sex with Whitfield, as well as those who may have been exposed and transmitted the disease to others. The number does not include potential victims in Oklahoma.
A woman who had a relationship with Whitfield when he lived in Washington said he often talked his way into the lives of women who would give him sex, money and affection.
"There was just something about him ... that he had the ability to make you feel that you were really special and beautiful, and you were the only woman in the world to him," she said. (source...)

Fourth HIV Case Found in California Porn Industry; Tue May 4, 2004 06:06 PM ET; By Gina Keating
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A fourth adult film performer has tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS but the case is unrelated to an outbreak that virtually shut down pornography production last month, an industry health care official said on Tuesday.
A transsexual actress who goes by the stage name Jennifer tested positive for HIV on Tuesday and had last performed a sex scene on Feb. 27 with two male actors who have since tested negative, according to Sharon Mitchell of the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation.
Last month, HIV infections of three other porn stars prompted a 60-day shutdown of adult productions that employ 6,000 people, including about 1,200 performers. The suburban San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles is the hub of the U.S. porn industry. (source...)
