Abortion In the News

Aborted babies in a trash can.

Abortion is murder. This page is a log of quotes from articles in on-line newspapers and magazines which show the evil and wickedness of abortion. No attempt is made to log all incidents, but only those I chance upon as I read the news day by day. My comments are in square brackets.

A British hospital is now investigating the case of a woman who had an abortion, but then was shocked to find out the head of her unborn baby had been left inside her.

She was booked into the hospital for the procedure, and even chose to have a coil contraceptive inserted to prevent any future pregnancies.

"When I woke up on the ward, they said that I had had three scans and everything was fine," she told the Voice.

But once she returned home, an unseemly problem began to make itself known.

"At midnight, my ex-partner knocked on the door to check if I was all right. ... I went to the bathroom and as I was sitting there, I just felt something slip out of me as if I had just given birth. I looked in the toilet and saw this lump that seemed to have a bone in it. So I showed it to my former partner."

The couple realized they were looking at the face of their unborn child, seeing the eyes, nose, mouth and ears. The tiny head measured no more than 4 centimeters.

"We just broke down and cried at what we were seeing. We couldn't believe it," Chambers sobbed to the paper.

"I phoned an ambulance and they took me to the hospital to make sure that no other parts were left inside of me. They said I could have died if it had stayed inside me."

She was able to discuss the situation with the doctor who had performed her abortion.

"He leaned over my bedside and said, 'I am so sorry. In all the procedures I've done, I've never come across this,'" she said. "He even tried to take the head away, but I said I wanted to keep it because we wanted to have a proper burial."

A distraught Chambers is now seeking legal advice on what to do next.

"I feel as if I'm going insane now; I can't just let this happen to me," she said. (source...)

[The mental and emotional problems abortions cause are not discussed with the patients of abortion providers. The burden of guilt caused by murdering one's own baby can only be lifted by the Lord Jesus Christ. Abortion may be legal in the eyes of men, but it is still murder in the eyes of God.]

Scans uncover secrets of the womb; Last Updated: Monday, 28 June, 2004, 12:28 GMT 13:28 UK

Baby yawning.Baby walking in the womb.

A new type of ultrasound scan has produced the vivid pictures of a 12 week-old foetus "walking" in the womb.

The new images also show foetuses apparently yawning and rubbing its eyes.

The scans, pioneered by Professor Stuart Campbell at London's Create Health Clinic, are much more detailed than conventional ultrasound.

The images have shown:

* From 12 weeks, unborn babies can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement

* From 18 weeks, they can open their eyes although most doctors thought eyelids were fused until 26 weeks

* From 26 weeks, they appear to exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccoughing, and sucking.

Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth. (source...)

Scanner shows unborn babies smile; Last Updated: Saturday, 13 September, 2003, 08:20 GMT 09:20 UK

A baby smiles in the womb.

Babies can smile, cry and blink before birth, a doctor says.

Advances in ultrasound scanning have allowed doctors to see that babies in the womb exhibit facial expressions as a reflex in preparation for birth, obstetrician Stuart Campbell said.

It was previously thought babies learned to smile after birth by copying their mothers.

Since 2001 Professor Campbell has captured images of babies smiling, using a revolutionary 4D scanner.

"They make breathing movements inside the uterus, but there is no air, and they blink, but there is no light, so it seems they are making preparations for birth," he said.

Pro-Life spokeswoman Julia Millington said: "The images show the delightful reality of the humanity of the unborn baby.

"We cannot believe that anybody could continue supporting abortion when they see these extraordinary pictures." (source...)

MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH; Women forced to have abortions? Expectant mother who screamed 'stop' will petition Supreme Court; Posted: March 9, 2004; 1:00 a.m. Eastern; 2004 WorldNetDaily.com

The Roe II case began March 29, 1997, when a young, pregnant mother entered the Aware Women Center for Choice clinic in Florida to get an abortion.

According to RPI, William P. Egherman, who has performed more than 10,000 abortions and been addicted to alcohol and opiates, began the procedure by attempting to dilate the woman's cervix.

But the woman had a change of heart.

"My God, you're hurting me" the woman began to scream. "You're killing me, I'll never be able to have babies. ... Stop!"

But Egherman ignored the pleas and screams and called for assistance from clinic workers who held the woman down as he continued to dilate her cervix.

Then he entered the victim with a pair of forceps -- "the bear" Ehgerman called them -- and began probing and pulling. He mistakenly pulled out part of the woman's intestines. (source...)

Coroner: Drug-induced abortion led to teen's death, The Associated Press, Last Updated 11:27 a.m. PST Sunday, November 2, 2003

LIVERMORE, Calif. (AP) - The Alameda County Coroner's Office has confirmed that a therapeutic drug-induced abortion led to the death of an 18-year-old Livermore woman who died Sept. 17. According to the autopsy report released Friday, Holly Patterson died of septic shock caused by endomyometritis, an inflammation of the uterus. The report says that endomyometritis was caused by a drug-induced abortion.

Endomyometritris is an infection of the womb that more typically is a complication of a cesarean section and septic shock is an often fatal collapse of blood pressure caused by infection.

Although Patterson died just days after initiating an abortion with the drug RU-486, the controversial abortion medication was not specifically mentioned in the teen's Cause of Death report.

The finding is consistent with what doctors at Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton told Holly's father, Monty Patterson, in the hours after her death Sept. 17.

"This confirms what we believed is the cause of Holly's death," said Helen Wilson-Patterson, in an e-mail to The Associated Press.

The 18-year-old was given the abortion pill a week earlier by a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Hayward, where she sought it without the knowledge of her father. When she fell ill Sept. 14, her boyfriend rushed her to Valley Care Medical Center, where she reportedly was told that her pain and bleeding were normal, and she was sent home with painkillers.

She returned to the hospital three days later, on Sept. 17, and died.

The teenager's death has become a cause celebre among anti-abortion groups, though her grief-stricken father has not taken a political position.

"I am not putting out a pro-choice or pro-life stand," he explained. "We need to know that drugs are safe, and if they are not safe, do something about it."

Patterson also said he and his wife feel it is their duty to inform other teenagers, young adults and parents about the "grave dangers" of the drug.

RU-486 is a drug that causes a non-surgical abortion sometimes compared to a miscarriage. (source...)
