Vegetarianism In the News

This page is a web log of news quotes which show why vegetarianiam---the idea that it is wrong to eat meat---is wrong. My comments will be in square brackets.

Pig billboard: 'He died for your sins' PETA ad to go up before Easter meant to generate compassion for animals; Posted: March 1, 2004 1:00 a.m. Eastern; By Ron Strom; 2004

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is preparing to put up what they call "faith-based billboards" before Easter, one of which features a photo of a pig and the caption, "He died for your sins go vegetarian."

PETA links pigs to Jesus in billboard campaign

PETA says the obvious reference to Jesus Christ's crucifixion is meant to generate compassion for the countless animals killed in the meat-eating culture.

"We have a number of faith-based billboards," PETA spokesman William Rivas-Rivas told WND. "We certainly plan on using [the pig ad] for the Easter period." (source...)

[The obvious reference to Jesus Christ's crucifixion in this billboard is meant to blaspheme Christ---to imply that Jesus was a pig. But besides referring to Christ as a pig, there is another wicked idea behind this billboard which shows precisely why vegetarianism is an evil practice. The wicked belief underlying vegetarianism is the belief that the Bible doctrine of the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross for our sins is not true, but that rather we must save ourselves from our sins by our works. The fact is that when we eat meat we are to realize that an innocent life died that we might eat and live. This is to remind us that Jesus died for our sins---the just of the unjust---that He might bring us to God. For this reason, God received Abel's meat offering, but God refused Cain's vegetable offering:

Genesis 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Vegetarianism springs from pagan religions such as Hinduism. The fact that PETA is running these ads during the Easter season shows that they realize the blasphemy of their ads. Vegetarianism is anti-Christian.

Jesus ate meat, and so do all real Christians.

I have also noticed over the years that PETA members tend to be angry people just like Cain. Vegetarianism is a sign of deep spiritual problems, and rebellion against God.]
